about

Writing for the album started in August 2016 on the cold and wet Isle of Man while waiting for Leonie to arrive. In September we travelled to Portland, Oregon, together and stayed for three months. Whilst in Portland we experienced a beautiful varicoloured autumn followed by a long winter; with snow up to our knees. Those two seasons had a big influence on the first part of the album and subsequently the albums entire theme.

In February 2017 Leonie received an offer for a three-month internship at the Goethe Institute in Chennai, India. We travelled there with a 6-month visa continuing the work on the album; under a searing sun. Hiding in the room, while avoiding the heat, I experimented with a more "Folktronica" sound.

Be Still. Stop Dancing.

In many of the countries we travel to food and accommodation are fairly cheap. If you'd like to help us compose whilst on the road then please consider buying us lunch by purchasing a song or merchandise, or give us a place to sleep for the night by buying an album. We can't make our music without your support and encouragement. Thank you x.

Track Name: Pigeonholes
Instrumental
Track Name: Dead and Gone and Gone
Dead and gone and gone,
dead and gone and gone.
Brave in their repose
but cowards I suppose.
Whispered mercies to the quick,
mercies to the quick, to the quick.

The same, by and by,
the same, by and by.
Some light beyond the brow,
your peace, a sacred vow,
but all's forgotten anyhow
forgotten anyhow, anyhow.

All is true, is true
all is true, is true.
There's nothing meant for you
born broken into two
but when you shone your real beauty shone,
now you're dead and gone, dead and gone.
Track Name: Bullfighter
Consequential de facto, that ancient spell, that keeps bullfighters from sleeping well.

With change every 10 to the power of 44 seconds who you fooling when you say you're getting old.

Push the car from the driveway. I don't feel like working today, pick a station and drive. Statistically, we should be happy.
Track Name: Swan Neck
We don't like dining out
and we've been called boring, listless lovers.
We act strange,
when under the influence of a new acquaintance.

We don't say,
"I love you", every day
we save it
for when the heart is beating and we're breathless.

And she states that she doesn't want to hear from another privileged white man and prefers the shouts of the black lesbian, with the red dress and the swan neck.

We don't hear the news
and we take long undisturbed siestas.
We make plans
that often make enemies of our bodies.

But we don't say,
"I love you", every day
we save it
for when the head is dumb with emotion
and the heart is beating breathlessly.

And she states that she doesn't want to hear from another privileged white man and prefers the shouts of the black lesbian, with the red dress and the swan neck.
Track Name: Lip
Deep in a forest in a house called 'Mote'
I gave eleven verses to one poem.
A tonne was banished by words,
fluttered away like a million small birds.

Lifted, a flutter.

Don't choke these crooked spots, I have found my treatment.

I watched and saw them fill the black space,
between each star and the human race,
In one exotically bright light,
which I drank in with all my eyes.

Lifted, a flutter.
Lifted, a flutter.

Deep in a forest in a house called 'Mote'
I gave eleven verses to one poem.
A tonne was banished by words,
spirited jewels now unfurled.
Track Name: Rabbit Foot
How was your autumn, what books were you reading? Are you softly grieving for the end of that season? Your father told me you were feeling lonely, I'm thinking of you but it's not you only.

The wetlands drag you down, turn you superstitious and unsound, have you bear footed, walking lost, trying to find dry land.

Your mother mentioned you'd changed profession to something with more relaxed expectations. Consider taking a long vacation, transform at the Deep Blue Mountains.

Yes, the wetlands drag you down, turn you superstitious and unsound, have you bear footed, walking lost, towards dry land.

I used to wear a rabbit's foot until I had a chance to reflect that this couldn't be its lucky foot for it hung from a chain around my neck.

But you'll like it, the free time, you could catch up on your life and mine. Make some changes, see the lights, you could catch up on your life and mine. Go out and see the…
Track Name: Deep Blue Mountains
Deep blue mountains. I arrive hollow, to rest at your feet and dream our hello, follow wild rapture to see where it goes.

I miss nothing at all, not one place or one soul.

Deep blue mountains. Deep blue mountains. Deep blue mountains. Deep blue mountains. Deep blue mountains.

Pour like the wind and think the night through, and rest thoughtlessly. Sit and desist, your city broke you. By the hand you'll be taken to dry land,
dry land, dry land, dry Land.

Deep blue mountains! Deep blue mountains! Deep blue mountains! Deep blue mountains! Deep blue mountains!
Track Name: Horse Blood
Out here it gets hot and I can't do my work
out here, the crows murder the silence.

In the season I'm a reasonable man
but I'm breathing in a heart attack
days are killer, mornings feel good
this isn't human, in my veins it's horse blood.

Out here I'm alive but imaginary,
out here the surprise is mostly fiction.

L.G I…L.G I…oh.
L.G I...L.G I…oh.
L.G I...L.G I…oh. (I, L.G)
L.G I...L.G I…oh. (I, Oh, I)

In the season I'm a reasonable man
but I'm breathing in a heart attack
days are killer, mornings feel good
this isn't human, in my veins it's horse blood.
Track Name: Preaching
Breathing is boring me to tears but not breathing will last longer than my years.

Preaching in the kitchen, in the garden and the halls to nothing but my head's four own walls.

Nicky P was forever shouting down so when he looked up there was no one left around.

Preaching in the kitchen, in the garden and the halls to nothing but my head's four own walls.

Katharina has nothing much to say but when she does it'll brighten up your day.

Preaching in the kitchen, in the garden and the halls to nothing but my head's four own walls.

Breathing is boring me to tears but not breathing will last longer than my years.

Preaching in the kitchen, in the garden and the halls to nothing but my head's four own walls.
Track Name: Happy Birthday to You
My baby, my bayonet.
My angel, my aglet.
It's the crater set
and the falling object
the static seen
as phosphene
in the repose
of a snow globe.

This breeze is the energies of a trillion lost souls,
happy birthday to you.

What feelings are met,
when the waves collect.
The body's will selects
and secretes an effect.
A ceremony,
each beat comes lonely.
Faithless water,
loved, however.

On our breath is the epitaph to once mortal moisture,
happy birthday to you.
Track Name: Lover
Kill your lover,
with compassion.
Give them answers
and sit in their shadow.

Make their bones into poems

Break your habit,
effervescent.
Be still,
stop dancing.

Turn their skin into inspiration.
Track Name: Cold Water Extraction
Burnt myself on the iron
so these expletive things can stay creased!
I'm a little paranoid but it's alright,
I work too hard but I'm the only one that thinks that.

Cold water extraction, we'll get high tonight.
If only for distraction, we could die tonight.
I know we said we wouldn't, but everything samey.
and If it doesn't work we'll drink cos everything the same as it was last week.

And two bodies are better than one. Dead and gone and gone.

Got drunk, rode home, woke up in a hedgerow
with a bruise shaped like Mother Superior.
Now I'm wondering is this a sign,
am I internally bleeding, is it too late to become a shrine?

Cold water extraction, we'll get high tonight.
If only for distraction, we could die tonight.
I know we said we wouldn't, but everything samey.
and If it doesn't work we'll drink cos everything the same as it was last week.
Cold water extraction, we'll get high tonight.
If only for distraction, we could die tonight.
I know we said we wouldn't, but everything samey.
and If it doesn't work we'll drink cos everything the same as it was last week.

And two bodies are better than one.
