Homesick Houses of Thought

about

Between 'The Voice I like' and this song being written was a long bout of writers block and a nagging concern that I had made a bad choice, giving up everything and coming to India to write an album. By now I had been to a few places but never found one I liked. I finally went to Pushkar, west of Delhi, in the dusty sun-soaked part of India. I stayed there for about three weeks working on a song called Chocolate Bar, which I never finished. Reading and eating stir fried food (something that to this day I can not stomach) I still did not feel contented; like I had not 'arrived'. One morning I took a walk to the top of a hill to see a temple and met an Austrian woman. We got talking and I told her how I was feeling. She suggested I go south as it was a 'different kind of India'. The next morning I boarded a train that would take me thirty six hours south and drop me off near one of the most beautiful places I have ever see. Hampi. I wrote this song there .

lyrics

Beware emotions come quick they're cut-throat and slick and they'll leave you homesick. But if you think things through, or even write them down, what may come is an understanding of where you are from.
I sell and I sow but I don't seem to grow, or I'll seek and I'll reap and know we are not what we own.
Now's the time to grow you hair, expel all those feeling of jet black despair. Or just go into your house of though, from reality to though, from reality to thought.
I sell and I sow but I don't seem to grow, or I'll seek and I'll reap and know we are not what we own.
